Custom caricatures: The story

Hello and welcome to the blog of Claire Abe Company!

Today, I’ll tell you the whole story behind the customizable cartoons available on the website.

Beginning

Before getting to the point, I will give you a brief summary of my journey as an artist.

Since I was a child, art in all its forms has fascinated me. Although three art forms are predominant in my life: singing/ music, dance, and drawing.

I will skip over music and dance because it has no interest in the subject of this article.

As I said earlier, already when I was little I liked to draw when I got tired of doing something else. Growing up, I kind of gave up that part to focus on my studies. However, I was increasingly missing that aspect over the years.

One day, in a discussion with someone whose profession was guidance counsellor, I decided a few days later to change schools and got into another school where the options were related to art.

note: I did most of my studies in Belgium.

I therefore spent my last two years of high school to continue studying the "normal" school courses and in parallel to study and apply art.

With the equivalent of my high school diploma in hand, come to decide what I will choose as a graduate study. Not believing for a moment that my skills in art (as work), I headed to the event organization and so a general communication BTS was what I opted. So I took a break from drawing during my studies.

When I get my degree (2019), I have trouble finding a job, I go on to work in events as internships and ... the COVID arrives.

This is where it all comes down.

Rock N' Roll World

With the lockdowns, I had time to refocus on myself and wonder what I really wanted to do.

Two answers came to me immediately: singing and sharing my love for two genres that I particularly like: rock and metal.

So I thought that with my studies and my passion for music, I would create a blog that talks about all this.

Rock N' Roll World was born.

But, I put myself in the place of a novice person in these areas. I was quoting names of artists and bands that some people may not know. That’s when I thought, I have to do something. After brainstorming and talking to my family. Caricature became the answer.

However, I had never made caricatures and it was two years since I had drawn. Armed with courage and patience, I began to practice drawing again. I then posted these on the blog to illustrate it. Certainly, there was still a long way to go but it was already one step on what I wanted for the blog.

Today

When I started Claire Abe Company, I had the idea to sell the drawings that are on the blog for rock and metal fans. Always ordering them.

That’s why you can see many caricatured portraits of rock and metal artists on the site.

However, as I was developing the business, I wondered why not expand the project. That’s how, today, you can order a 100% customizable caricature portrait by sending me the photos on which I can work!
